time is winding down.. have you sent your gift?
have you received your gift?
Collected mine from the Post office this morning - Thank you FunkyDerek for the best stress busting kit I ever got!!
Still no idea whether my Secret Santee has received theirs yet. I hope they have and that they liked their pressie.
my beloved grandmother is dying.
i am going to see her and i will have to drive 1000 miles by myself.
i'm hoping i'll be able to keep it together.. i would really appreciate it someone could send some thoughts and/or prayers to my grandmother and i.. thank you.
Safe journey.
May God surround you and all your family with His love and peace in the coming days.
let's check in.

have you received your gift?
I sent mine a few weeks ago, don't know whether its arrived yet.
Nothing received so far - can't wait to get home today to see if postie has brought it yet!
do you have any sayings/anecdotes/mantras/cliches that help you cope?
i've heard a few that i employ with my own modifications:.
i like the "dear dad" letter, though i don't know if my folks would appreciate it if i applied to leaving the org.. "if my mother knew about this, she'd be spinning in her grave.
My favourite at the moment is to take a deep breath and say:
"I am a temple of calm"
I dunno why it works but it does! I guess it just helps me to re-focus my thoughts when everythings going crazy around me.
hi everyone, just thought id tell you about my recent troubles with this scumbag retail monster.
i brought a printer and it has just gone faulty on me, but it was a few days after the 28 days that pc world say i am entitled to take the product back.
they told me that i was not able to take the item back, and that i would have to call cannon and get them to come out and sort it.
Sam they are NOT allowed to refuse you a refund if you are rejecting the printer under the Sale of Goods Act (as amended!) - It is unfit for purpose and the law is entirely on your side. Speak to the manager and report them to trading standards.
You can find out the best way to go about it on the BBC Watchdog page. (I posted it in a previous thread but haven't enough time to find it for you. Really sorry) Good luck!
when was the last time that the watchtower society wrote anything substanial or had a substanial watchtower study announcing jehovah's kingdom?
the title is on every cover of the magazine.
usually in passing they will have a lead-in article that tells everyone that god will soon replace this wicked system of things, however, am i right that it's been a long long time since we have seen an in-depth study article explaining jehovah's kingdom.. it seems that all the recent study articles lately have been to spank the rank and file, also the elders and to warn about apostates.. besides the small lead-in articles, where is the public getting information announcing jehovah's kingdom?
It seems that all the recent study articles lately have been to spank the rank and file, also the Elders and to warn about apostates.
Speaking as a non-JW reader of the magazines, I agree, it does appear to me that recently a lot of the articles seem to be more focussed on 'members' behaviour/beliefs/attitudes than for anyone else who might read them.
.
its my 3 year olds birthday next week and we are having a party, i've invited tons of kids, even kids we don't know very well, god knows where we are going to put everyone.. anyway, i've been to a few kids partys but not that many, so has anyone got any good ideas for games?.
so far we have pin the tail on the donkey and pass the parcel.
How about musical chairs/statues (or any variation).
If you've a fairly large house/garden, how about a treasure hunt.
or Simon says... is another good one
ok i just finished watching antwone fisher.
it's not the first time i've watched it.not even the second or third time.
i've seen it a lot.
Virtually all the ones already mentioned especially Gladiator, Green Mile and Schindler's List.
Also Braveheart, Phar Lapp and The Horse Whisperer.
this is the start of an article i am writing about the challenges of jw/ex-jw couples face when trying to find friends.
i need your help, finging me ideas on where to find friends, how to make friendships, and how to keep them.. tetrapod.sapien asked for this topic.
but i decided to tackle it a little differently than my polls.
A late addition from me! I don't know whether there's a similar organisation in other countries but here in the UK there's a charity called Pets as Therapy where if your pet dog or (more rarely) cat is a good temperament, you register and they will find you care homes/hospitals/schools etc to visit with your pet. You can even help with treatment of phobias. Registration ensures everything is 'official' regarding things such as insurance etc.
This is great if you find starting conversations with strangers difficult as the pet usually provides a focal point. I fall into the very shy category but started visiting a nursing home with one of my cats under this scheme (unfortunately puss has now retired through ill-health). I definitely recommend it!
